Odd Happenings

I saw a blog written by Murt come across my feed: DRAGONCON FACES MASSIVE BOYCOTT DUE TO PEDOPHILE CONNECTION

Normally I read them and move on, unless there is a reason to reblog it. But for some reason this one stuck with me. Since I am not into comic books, I know nothing about this event. Then it hit me where I saw this mentioned before:

Radio Con

Welcome To Dragon*Con

If you notice this tweet is from last year. So it seems Radio is into comic books, roll playing etc. I have no problem with that, if that is what they like to do. What I did find odd is Radio is suppose to be from the Greater Atlanta GA area. If that is the case why would he/she not have known about the story of Kramer? Or blogged about it? Why would Radio affiliate with a place of which the co-founder is a child molester?

Atlanta’s DragonCon faces boycott in wake of co-founder being accused of child molestation

I’m surprised this boycott didn’t happened sooner, as he was accused in 2000.

The part that got my attention was this:

Last month, Nancy A. Collins, a Swamp Thing creator and contributor, called for a boycott of DragonCon because she says Kramer draws $150,000 a year from the organization to “avoid trial and manipulate the justice system to allow him free reign to prey upon children, even while under supposed house arrest. All you have to do is publicly declare you will never attend DragonCon again as long as Edward Kramer profits from the convention.”

Nancy has a very valid point.. Interesting food for thought.

“In 2011, he was in violation of his bond agreement when he was charged with “risk of injury to a minor” in Connecticut when he was found in a hotel room with a 14-year-old boy, according to the AJC. He was extradited to Georgia in January.”
